RFID tags

Patients wear an RFID lanyard or wristband with a unique ID number.

The RFID reader, which is concealed in the ceiling, automatically identifies the patient, and places them in the R & V daily schedule queue. Xecan readers installed throughout the facility provide real-time patient location and flow data. Unlike barcode, RFID does not require line of sight. Patients need only pass within 15 feet of any reader to be recognized.Patients wear an RFID lanyard or wristband with a unique ID number. Smart Cancer Care Wristband

The smart wristband is a revolutionary wearable technology that improves patient safety and experience in cancer care. It is battery-free, waterproof, and hypo-allergenic. The technology enables automatic, ubiquitous communications with oncology record and verification systems, such as Aria and Mosaiq.

Xecan’s system enables clinics to automatically verify the right patient and their treatment accessories as they enter the treatment room.  Patients will also be automatically greeted and queued as they enter the department, ensuring the schedule is accurate.  Xecan also increases patient satisfaction by communicating wait times via automated text alerts and with screens in the clinic.  Staff are also notified if a patient has been in an exam room for too long.

The wristband will:

  • Welcome and queue patient to the clinic, the wristband will queue patients automatically as they enter the department
  • Add a layer of safety to patient treatment, the wristband will automatically verify patient treatment plans as they enter the treatment room. It will also automatically verify patient’s treatment accessories/medications in the treatment room.
  • Reduce patient wait time, the wristband enables Xecan system to automatically text patients if there is a delay in the clinic. It will also alert the clinic staff if the patient has been in the exam rooms for too long.

It is waterproof and hypo-allergenic. For better patient safety and satisfaction, patients should wear wristbands during their entire treatment course.

Lanyard

An alternative to the Smart Cancer Care Wristband is the usage of lanyards with personalized RFID Tags. Instead of wearing a wristband the patient receives a personalized RFID badge that the patient needs to bring whenever he/she has an appointment. This can be worn around the neck on a lanyard.
